March & April 2018 Wrap-Up

I've been very busy recently but I've finally had some time to sit down and update on here. I have more posts on the way that include my March and April Owlcrate unboxings and two bookhauls, but for now, let's get onto my wrap-ups.

So for March, I read a total of 12 books which is really good, my best month this year actually. To start read five graphic novels, Your Name Vol. 2 by Makoto Shinkai, Big Mushy Happy Lump by Sarah Andersen, Lumberjanes Vol. 7: a Bird's-Eye View by Shannon Watters, The Prince and the Dressmaker Jen Wang, and lastly The Witch Boy by Molly Ostertag, all of which I gave 5 stars.

Next, I read Opal by Maggie Stiefvater, the Raven Cycle novella that takes place after The Raven King, and I gave this 5 stars. It was so nice to finally get back into this world, I love this series so much and I can't wait to read the sequel series coming soon!

I also finished The Black Witch by Laurie Forest and gave it 5 stars. I really struggled at the beginning but once I got into the story I started loving it, it's definitely a new favorite now.

I read one story by Mackenzi Lee in All Out: The No-Longer-Secret Stories of Queer Teens throughout the Ages which is a short story collection. I gave the one I read 4 stars and didn't read the rest because I didn't know any other author and frankly only wanted to read Mackenzi Lee's story.

Up next is Daughter of the Siren Queen by Tricia Leveseller which was one of my most anticipated reads for this year and it did not disappoint. I loved the characters and world of this book because it was so simple to read but also so simple to get lost in, and I gave it 5 stars.

After that, we have Children of Blood and Bone by Tomi Adeyemi which instantly became a new favorite and I gave 5 stars to. I've been in need of a new fantasy world to get lost into and let me tell you this book was perfect for it!

The last book I read in the month of March was The Gentleman's Guide to Vice and Virtue by Mackenzi Lee which took me a while to get to but I'm so happy I finally got to it. I loved the characters and story so much and I can't wait to see where it goes in the next book. I gave this 5 stars.

Lastly for the month of March I DNF'd one book, The Strange Bird by Jeff Vandermeer. This takes place in the same world that Borne does and I just couldn't get into so ultimately I put it down.

For the month of April I sadly only have two books, both graphic novels. The first was Herding Cats by Sarah Andersen and the second was Your Name Vol. 3 by Makoto Shinkai, both of which I gave 5 stars.

Overall I found these months to be pretty successful, although April was filled with a lot of nothing, nonetheless, I read a little! Hope you enjoyed this wrap-up, and stay tuned for my next posts!
