Spoiler-Free Review of Whisper of the Tide

I received a free copy from the publisher via Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

When the first book in this series came out I was so interested because I wanted to read a new pirate-esque novel and the cover looked so beautiful to me. Once I finally got around to reading it I was pretty satisfied but not as much as I hoped to be. Once I saw that Whisper of the Tide was available to request I did so because I was interested to see where Caro and Markos go.

At the beginning of the book I was reluctant, but I felt it was only because I wasn't used to the authors writing style. After I got further in I realized that it was just me. While I enjoyed the idea of the book I just couldn't bring myself to read it because I just I wasn't interested in the characters or what they were doing. To me, the story felt very tropey and predictable so I couldn't immerse myself in it. I DNF'd this book at around 20% because the plot didn't pull me into it.

I will say however though that if you are a fan of Song of the Current then you should read this. While this wasn't for me, I do know that if you love the characters and story of the first then you will definitely enjoy this.
